Time Management During the Exam

The Professional-level exam has 170 items across 3 hours and 10 minutes (190 minutes) — roughly 67 seconds per item on average, which gives you real breathing room if you pace well.

A practical pacing approach

• • Do a first fast pass through the whole exam, answering everything you're confident about immediately and lightly marking anything you're unsure of
• • Don't get stuck on one hard question — losing several minutes on one item costs you several easy points elsewhere
• • On your second pass, return to marked items with whatever time remains
• • Reserve your last few minutes purely for making sure every item has an answer — on most versions of this exam, there's no penalty for guessing, so an educated guess beats a blank
